Cynthia Kinch is one of Canada’s more influential and respected journalists. She has been responsible for developing programs at both the local and national level. This included a stint as the executive producer of the CBC\'s flagship daily news program The National for which she won two Gemini awards. She rose to become the senior executive in charge of CBC’s 24-hour all-news-network. This meant she was responsible for the daily editorial direction of the most popular news network in the country.
Cynthia led coverage on some of the biggest stories of our generation, including elections both domestically and abroad, as well as wars in Afghanistan, and Iraq. As an executive Cynthia managed multi-million dollar budgets and the entire News Network staff of researchers, producers and on air hosts. Her reputation as a strong editorial leader is matched by her commitment to developing talent.
Cynthia’s skills as a storyteller have been critically important in mentoring many of Canada’s top journalists. She has also been a leader in innovation, recognizing the need to constantly develop programming in the highly competitive news environment. She took responsibility for the successful rebranding and launching of the News Network. The large project was critical to maintaining the station’s unquestioned dominance in the Canadian all news market. Cynthia studied at McGill and the University of Western Ontario.
